Workers in today’s economy looking to upskill themselves whenever and wherever can now do so from the convenience of their mobile phones with the NTUC LearningHub Learning eXperience Platform (NTUC LHUB LXP) app.
NTUC LHUB LXP is a one-stop online learning mobile application that aims to deliver continuous and lifelong learning via modular, bite-sized, on-the-go learning.
The NTUC LHUB LXP has over 75,000 courses across 60 categories.
The app was officially launched during the 2021 NTUC Ordinary Delegates’ Conference (ODC) on 17 November 2021 by Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies Heng Swee Keat; Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng; President of Singapore National Employers Federation Robert Yap; NTUC President Mary Liew; and NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng.
The app is one of three online subscription platforms where users can use their SkillsFuture Credits, which is part of a pilot programme launched by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) in August 2021.
The annual subscription for the NTUC LHUB LXP comes at $120 or $10 per month, with union members being able to access the same variety of courses at 50 per cent of the cost.
According to NTUC LHUB, the LXP allows users to learn from a variety of digital formats, including webinars, instructor-led courses and bite-sized online courses.
It provides a suite of courses which are mapped to growth industries, providing world-class training content that links training to employability.
The app also has instructor-led courses, both virtual live courses and face-to-face training programmes, which are led by NTUC LHUB trainers.
Users can also enjoy free content with NTUC LHUB’s pre-recorded webinars and events, which will allow them to gain industry knowledge, as well as keep up to date with new trends.
With LXP’s in-app categorisation of “completed” and “in-progress” courses, users can easily keep track of their training development.
NTUC LHUB CEO Jeremy Ong said that the training provider is proud to be powering LXP as part of the larger tripartite effort to enable workers and companies to upskill and re-skill.
“As Singapore’s largest training provider, we will continue to be steadfast in our efforts in providing affordable and assessable digital solutions that enhance the lifelong learning journeys of Singaporeans,” he said.
SSG Chief Executive Tan Kok Yam said that SSG is excited to collaborate with LHUB on the app and hopes Singaporeans will benefit from the wide choice of bite-sized online courses.
According to LHUB, the NTUC LHUB LXP app aims to be the strategic key enabler and lifelong learning platform for workers to stay relevant and competitive in the newly transformed economy.
Subscribers will be able to identify their personal and career training needs anytime, anywhere, and upskill themselves according to trending and emerging skills.
When IT professional Peter Seow, 49, was retrenched in 2018, he knew that he needed to be resilient and refresh his competencies to keep up with market demands.
“I realised that I needed to acquire new skills to stay relevant and employable for the next journey,” he said.
When supply coordinator Malyala Srinivasu, 48, saw the need to upskill to keep pace with the rapid digitalization at his workplace, the sole bread winner was faced with the dilemma of having to balance work and family commitments with his learning commitments.
He said: “I found it difficult to find time for learning as most of my time is spent working.”.
Both Mr Seow and Mr Malyala found the solution to their training needs with the pilot of the NTUC LHUB LXP mobile app.
Mr Seow said that the platform offered many up-to-date courses with sufficient breadth and depth, and he has since completed some 100 courses on the platform.
“At an affordable price point, the platform allows me to learn at my own pace and work schedule. I am also able to stay well-informed on the latest IT trends and acquire new adaptive skills which can be immediately applied.
“With LXP, I have gained the confidence to take charge of my career,” he added.
As for Mr Malyala, having “not enough time” was no longer a factor in his quest towards lifelong learning.
“LXP has given me the opportunity to acquire new digital skills such as Internet of Things, which I apply to my work. It is easy to find time to learn on the platform, and I am able to balance family, work and my personal learning,” he said.
